During my final co-op term, I provided just-in-time initial help desk support to faculty members and staff in the Faculty of Arts. My role as a Learning Tech Rover included giving workshop tutorials on educational technologies, troubleshooting issues as they arose, and providing appropriate referrals as required.

Learning Significance

  1. During the first half of my work term as a Learning Tech Rover working at the Arts Instructional Support and Information Technology (ISIT) unit, I have gained various essential skills and knowledge required in our current digital era. Technologies are on the rise and are also constantly changing, and I have learned that it is just as important to keep up with technological advances as it is with daily news. My experience working with learning technology enlightened my perspective on pedagogical learning, and it made me appreciate the extra mile that our faculty members have put into creating an engaging and meaningful learning experience.

Apart from gaining valuable technical skills, I have also strengthened my interpersonal skills such as communications, both written and verbally. This co-op experience gave me the opportunity to improve my writing skills through curating content for the web services page, in addition to writing documentation. Furthermore, I have also gained confidence in public speaking by presenting workshops on all the learning technologies that we support, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Although I am only halfway into my work term here at the Arts ISIT Learning Centre, I am keen on pursuing longer term projects, such as the ePortfolio project that I am currently involved. This project aims to integrate ePortfolio seamlessly in the Faculty of Arts curriculum. This will also give me the opportunity to develop and enhance my technical skills, in addition to my interpersonal skills.
